The primary purpose of a library is to preserve knowledge which is available in any documentary form. University libraries acquire documents to provide information of different hues to satisfy the changing needs of the users i.e. the students, faculty members and the researchers. As a matter of fact, the objective of libraries has now been transformed from preservation to providing information to the utmost satisfaction of the users.
The richness of collection, germane organizational pattern and provision of comprehensive variegated bonanzic services in fact speak volumes as regards development of Academic Libraries in general and University Libraries in particular. The unfolding of globalization in tandem with the dissemination of knowledge information has elevated the role of university libraries to a higher level.
Integral University Library has glorious past and is expected to have a promising future. The Library has grown steadily in terms of physical facilities, collection, number of personnel, services, IT based services etc. University library is fully computerized by using web based Library Management Software (Alice for Windows) for daily housekeeping activities. Users can access their desired information at their desktop within the campus. At present University Library is having intensive collection of reference sources like handbooks, standard manuals, encyclopedia, technical reports, project reports along with the prescribed text and reference books and National & International printed journals. Apart from printed resources, University Library is also having electronic materials like CD ROMs, full text e-books and e-resources i.e. IEL, Springer, Proquest, OUP and CUP etc.
University Library provides various services to its users by means of Book Lending, Reference Service, Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI), Current Awareness Services (CAS) and Reprographic Services.
